Special mention for 2 man
percussion team
The Percussion requirements at the area contest called for 3
percussionists, but unfortunately due to illness Tintwistle
Band had to manage with two. One major problem was the
anvil which was needed frequently in the second movement.
Luckily Simon our percussion player is an engineer and was
able to make an anvil operated by a foot pedal.

It clearly worked very well.
Well done to Simon
Barrow and Jack Parker for managing to get all the parts in
against the odds. Also
congratulations to Jack on his recent 18th Birthday.
Terry McMyler who was poorly before
the contest is now recovering well.

Coasts & Castles
Several members
of the band tackled the Coasts & Castles cycle ride from
Newcastle to Edinburgh over the May bank holiday week.
They cycled some 216 miles up the north east coast to
Berwick upon Tweed before turning inland towards
Innerleithen then north into Edinburgh. The weather was fine
other than a strong northerly head wind and 5 minutes of
rain in Berwick.
