The Band are pleased to announce that John Maines has agreed to direct the band on the Whit Friday March Contests.

John is in great demand as a conductor  and adjudicator and Tintwistle Band are indebted to him for his help.

Birthday Greetings once again, this time  to Tintwistle Band's Principal Cornet Player Michelle Barrow.

Michelle did try to keep it a secret but it never seems to work.

Tintwistle Band unfortunately have to announce that their Musical Director David Shutter is to leave the band. David's decision
which was made for family reasons brings to an end a memorable ten year period in this position.

Tintwistle Band hold David in high esteem and thank him for his commitment and dedication throughout this period. David
will no doubt be missed by players whom he has been
involved with over the years.

Tintwistle Band wish  David all the very best for the future.

Sell Out at Hatherlow

Tintwistle Bands concert at Hatherlow Sunday School this
evening was a great success. The event was a sell-out and the band played to a capacity audience.

The programme featured three of the bands soloists, and the
 second half included many Christmas favourites.

Tintwistle Band have enjoyed playing at Hatherlow for some
years now and can always count on a large appreciative audience.

Brass in Concert 2007

A group of players from the band travelled up to Newcastle this weekend to watch the Brass in Concert Championships at the Sage in Gateshead.

The band stayed overnight and had time to sample the night life in Newcastle.

The weekend was a great success.

Pontins Brass Band Championships 2007

Tintwistle Band gained a creditable 9th place at the Pontins Brass Band Championships at Prestatyn. The adjudicators were particularly impressed by the playing of our Soprano cornet Amy Leslie.

Many players stayed at Pontins for the weekend and a group
dressed up as pirates for the cabaret on Saturday.

Happy Birthday Steve

Steve Gilbert ( adder to his friends ) BBb Bass celebrated
 his 50th birthday today.

An extra rehearsal for the Pontins contest was interrupted for a short time so Steve could blow out the candles on his cake.

Many happy returns on your half century Adder.

Nancy Belfield

It is with great sadness that Tintwistle Band have to report the passing away of Nancy Belfield.

Nancy's late husband Jim Belfield was the musical Director of the band for many years, and Nancy was a keen supporter. Jim also taught many players in Tintwistle Band as he was involved with teaching youngsters.

Nancy's funeral will be at Christ Church Tintwistle on Tuesday30th October at 2-00 pm and a group of players will be
representing the band.

Tintwistle Band have many fond memories of Nancy.

Well Done Shoey

Just heard that Stephen Barrow the bands Flugel player has just completed the Leicester Marathon.

Shoey as he is known to his friends had a tough time due
to cramp but completed the course in 5 hrs 3 mins.

Bet your stiff tomorrow mate.

Angela Sims will be joining the band on the front row.

 Angela has just finished studying at Sheffield University and has decided to start playing again. We are delighted that Angela has decided to join us.

Cerid Grimshaw will be joining the band on the vacant repiano seat.

 Cerid joins us from Yorkshire Co-op and the band are delighted that she has decided to join us

Laura leaves the band for university

Laura Jeffrey the bands rep player will be taking a place at the University of Central Lancashire.
Laura has played with the band for some years and
will be greatly missed.
